SCAM SCAM SCAM!! I just reported GainSaver to the Attorney General.
The same thing happened to me as about 50% of the reviewers.
Here is what will happen if you purchase from them.
Lets take a case where you order a refurbished Sony Vaio i7 SSD laptop. They will sell it to you for $800 while it sells on eBay for $1,500
1.The laptop will arrive in 5 days boxed extremely well.
2.You will unpack the laptop and GASP!
3.It turns out to be a two year old Sony Vaio Dual Core with a 30GB 5400prm Hard Drive! (these sell on eBay for $400)
4.You are furious!
5.You contact GainSaver.com and complain
6.You are connected to Steve Harper (Owner, Operator, Evil Man)
7.Steve will say the following to you: "I am sooo sorry! We will give you a FULL REFUND! Please just ship the laptop back to us!"
8.You are surprised and happy.
9.You ship back the laptop.
10.No money
11.You call Steve
12.He tells you: "What do you mean? Of course you got a full refund! Check your GainSaver.com account. You can now use your full refund for anything on GainSaver.com (which by now you realize means that you will purchase a very cheap item for alot of money)
13.You are furious again
14.You complain to your CC company which temporarily credits your account
15.Steve shows the CC company the store refund policy which clearly states that you get "store credit only".
16.You feel screwed
In short: Don't ever ever ever buy from GainSaver. If anybody knows how to report a website to have them shut down please let me know.
By-the-way, their BBB rating is A. If you look at their ratings you will realize what happened. Steve is a skilled con-artist. Everytime someone complains like this on BBB.com he hires (or asks) three people to write awesome reviews.
The proof is the fact that every negative complaint is the same as I just showed.
Please do yourself a favor and steer clear.
Anyone who has experienced a simliar purchase please post.
BTW - I guarantee that within a week Stever will sign up under a different name and post about how this can't be true because he just purchased 10 laptops from GainSaver and had a wonderful experience. I warn you - he is very skilled and runs around the WWW defending his scamsite.
Heed my warnings people. Learn from my mistake.
ONE MORE THING: Almost every 5 star rating here is from Steve or his company. I know for a fact that he pays his workers to write fake 5 star reviews to counteract his real reviews. Checkout other review sites. You will see that his recent reviews are all 5 star and his older ones all call him a SCAM!!
